TealDoc version 6.64 fixes the problem I explained in my earlier review. If you configure "Screen Taps" to "Select word", it now selects words with foreign accents correctly. To look a word up in BDicty you have to select the word, give a command stroke, and tap the BDicty icon. I've asked TealPoint to include "Lookup word" as an option in "Screen Taps". Then you could tap a word and it would go directly to BDicty (without having to give a command stroke).

I mainly use TealDoc is for reading books in foreign languages I'm learning. Since I have to look up a lot of words, TealDoc's ability to look up words in BDicty should be great. However it doesn't work smoothly. I reported the problems to TealPoint 5 months ago but they are still present in the latest update. I got tired of waiting and just bought a Spanish dictionary for eReader Pro, which can also read doc files. I discovered eReader Pro looks up dictionary words beautifully, and there are many dictionaries to choose from. My advice is to get eReader Pro, not TealDoc if you plan to read languages with accents.
I'll explain the problem with TealDoc.There are two ways to make it look up selected words. One is to configure TealDoc to look up words you tap on. However, this doesn't work on words with accents. For example, if you tap at the start of the Spanish word "seƱores" it tries to look up the word "se". If you tap after the accent, it tries to look up "ores". TealDoc thinks accented letters are like the spaces that separate words, so it will never select a complete word that contains an accent. There is a second approach, but it doesn't work either. You configure TealDoc so you can highlight any characters you want. Now you can highlight a whole word including accented letters. However, TealDoc doesn't think this is a word, so you have to use a menu command to get it to look up your selection in BDicty. The problem is that TealDoc always puts a space before the first letter of the word it gives to BDicty. You cannot select just the letters and not the space in front of them. Hence, the word is never found in the dictionary until you edit it in BDicty and eliminate the space. I frequently look up hundreds of words when read Spanish literature and having to edit out the space every time is very annoying. Now that I've switched to eReader Pro, I'm much happier.
In all other repects, TealDoc is an excellent program. I think it still deserves 5 stars.

First of all, Tim Zukavman's comment about TealDoc only being able to read documents is misleading. One can, most certainly, create new documents in TealDoc, either in PalmDoc format or Plain Text from the Documents Menu/ New Document option or by graffiti /N.
I am a very satisfied user of TealDoc and can heartily recommend it. It is very easy to use even with all of the useful options available, including a certain degree of file management similar to Teal Mover, which is also excellent.
The developers are clearly doing their best to make all of their softwares the best they can possibly be and are very keen on constuctive feedback re improvements. Use of Teal Version Master included in this package ensures that this and other Teal programs can always be kep fully up to date, either by manual updates or recular scheduled searches for updates. Within their interest in feedback, Tealpoint, via an email discussion list, offers users the opportunity to share ideas for improvements to existing sofwares as well as developments of new useful softwares. Within the limits that PalmOS provides they are obviously open to new innovations where ideas are birthed for future developments.
I have used most of the other word procession programs, but find this one the most smooth, reliable and easy to use of all of them.

This app I have to admit is awesome! I WAS using Word To Go and kept having a great amount of annoying problems and it took up wayyy too much space on my NX. I found TealDoc and I deleted Word To Go in an instant. Though you can't write your own documents (which I wasn't doing with Word To Go anyway) I can at least read the "e-Books" I had without hassles. It reads of the memory stick or ram which Word To Go did a crappy job of doing. Anyhow if you are looking to JUST read books then this is the app for you! IT also loads pretty fast and you can at least flip the pages in 90 degree angles. I really enjoy this app....

TealDoc is an excellent doc reader and an essential program for those of us who have a lot of Palm Docs and want to manipulate (rename, delete, move, bookmark) them. TealDoc also reads native text files.
Correcting the previous review: (1) TealDoc is NOT 43K. The current version is 230K. It can be run from an expansion card and/or invoked via PowerRun, TealAlias and add-on launchers, if desired. (2) TealDoc does not replace PalmReader if you have books/reference materials in that format.
I'd like to see TealDoc support all major document types including PalmReader and MS Word documents. This would keep us from having so many readers and taking up space on our Palm OS devices.
